Our Limerock Council was founded on November 3rd, 1895. It is named after the "Lime Rock" area in Rockland, Maine, an area where the big business of mining and processing lime from Rockland’s many limestone quarries took place. The Limerock Council works closely with the St. Brendan the Navigator Parish in Camden, Maine, providing funds for various projects, members being active participants in their parish.
On March 5th, 1958, the Limerock Local Assembly No 136 – 4th Degree Assembly was founded by Major Sayward N. Hall. On April 27th, 1968, the 4th Degree Councils of Rockland (No. 136) and Belfast, ME (No. 3942) were merged into a single 4th Degree Assembly.
On October, 12th, 1984, the Limerock Council founded the Stella Maris House as a home for the elderly and handicapped.
