JANUARY 10, 2017: St. Brendan the Navigator parish is excited to announce collaborative effort with Catholic Charities of Maine to expand the parish’s outreach to those in need. The parish, through a Catholic Charities grant, has hired Jeanne Denny, a social worker, to “walk with” our neighbors in need here in the mid-coast area. She will also handle referrals that come through the parish office. Jeanne will journey with our neighbors to listen to their concerns and worries, locate resources and services to best help them make informed decisions and positive choices. Jeanne will also explore working collaboratively with other faith groups and organizations in our area to identify and fill in resource gaps and more effectively provide services to those in need. Jeanne will divide her time between our parish’s largest ministry, the St. Bernard Soup Kitchen in Rockland, and the parish office in Camden.
Jeanne has many years of social work experience, including casework with DHHS, medical social work with adults and children (Duke Medical Center, CMMC and PBMC) teaching and supervising social work interns, and working closely with area clergy to enhance pastoral care at the regional medical centers. She earned the Master of Social Work Degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jeanne can be reached by phone by calling the parish office at 236-4785, extension 103 (shared with Paula) or on her cell 290-1793. Please welcome Jeanne as you see her around the parish!
Please pray for the success of this new journey to be the “eyes and hands of Christ” to our neighbors. If you have any questions please contact Christine Cammelieri in the parish office at 236-4785 ext. 101.
